Get to know Dr. Yares
Dr. Ari Yares is a licensed psychologist and the Director of Behavioral Health at MAPP Behavioral Health, a division of Mid Atlantic Pediatric Partners. He works with children, adolescents, and families on a wide range of social, emotional, behavioral, and learning concerns — providing therapy, psychological evaluation, and parent consultation right where families already receive their pediatric care.
Clinically, Dr. Yares specializes in anxiety, depression, and ADHD, with particular expertise in executive functioning support. He has a strong focus on parent coaching, helping caregivers develop the practical tools and confidence they need to support their children at home and at school. He also conducts comprehensive psychological evaluations, including neuropsychological, psychoeducational, and ADHD evaluations, to help families understand how their child learns, processes, and functions — and what support will make the biggest difference.
Dr. Yares brings a combination of clinical depth and real-world leadership to his work. He earned both his master’s degree and Ph.D. in School Psychology from Temple University’s nationally recognized program and is a licensed psychologist in Maryland. Before entering private practice, he served as Director of the Early Stages Center for DC Public Schools, where he led a multidisciplinary team that evaluated more than 750 preschool children annually for special education eligibility. He has also held senior leadership roles in independent schools, including Head of School at Gross Schechter Day School, Upper School Principal at the Schechter School of Long Island, and Head of Middle School at Krieger Schechter Day School.
That breadth of experience — across clinical psychology, special education, school leadership, and pediatric integrated care — shapes the way Dr. Yares approaches every family he works with. He believes that effective support for children requires understanding the whole child: how they learn, how they connect, and how their home, school, and healthcare environments interact. He partners closely with parents and pediatric providers to ensure that behavioral health care is practical, evidence-based, and woven seamlessly into each family’s life.
