New Patients

Are we a good fit?

Understand how MAPP approaches preventive care, communication, access, and the long-term partnership between families and their pediatric practice.

New Patient Checklist

Finding the right fit for your family

The strongest care partnerships begin when a family’s priorities align with its pediatric practice. Review the expectations below, then call the practice you are considering with any questions.

Vaccines

Our practices follow the immunization schedule recommended by the American Academy of Pediatrics. Families should be comfortable with evidence-based vaccination.

Antibiotics

We avoid unnecessary antibiotics and do not routinely prescribe them by phone. When an antibiotic is clinically appropriate, your provider will recommend it.

Your medical home

Please contact your practice first when your child is sick or needs specialty care. This helps the care team guide next steps, coordinate referrals, and keep the medical record complete.

Technology

MAPP uses a shared Patient Portal and automated reminders. After registration, your office will tell you when and how to activate access. The portal is not for emergencies.

Office hours and visits

Both practices offer preventive and sick care by appointment. Walk-in visits are not offered, so call ahead before coming to the office.

After-hours care

Both practices provide urgent after-hours guidance through their regular phone numbers. THH may use a Nurse Triage Service during late-evening and early-morning hours. Routine requests should wait for office hours.

Insurance

Confirm that your practice participates with your plan. Families are responsible for understanding coverage, presenting current insurance information, and paying applicable copays.

Billing and fees

Copays are generally due at the time of service. Contact the office before the visit if you need to discuss billing questions, payment arrangements, or current fee policies.

Scheduling

For sick concerns, call your practice so the clinical team can help determine the right next step. Well visits can be scheduled in advance, but the exact scheduling window and process vary by practice.

Timeliness and cancellations

Plan to arrive about 15 minutes early and provide at least 24 hours’ notice when canceling or rescheduling. Late-arrival, missed-appointment, or cancellation fees may apply under the current office policy.

Questions before you decide?

Call the practice your family is considering. The office team can answer questions about availability, registration, and what to expect.
