International Travel Care

Travel Visits

Plan ahead for destination-specific vaccines, medications, and practical health guidance before international travel.

Before Your Family Leaves

Prepare for international travel

A pediatric travel visit reviews your destination, itinerary, vaccine history, medications, and health needs. Your pediatric provider can recommend destination-specific vaccines, preventive medicines, and practical steps to reduce common travel risks.

Please have ready

  • Countries and cities you plan to visit
  • Travel dates and length of stay
  • Your child’s vaccine record
  • Current medicines and health conditions
  • Insurance questions and expected travel-service fees

Schedule Early

Allow time for recommendations to take effect

Several weeks before departure

Call as soon as your plans are known. When possible, schedule about one to two months before international travel so there is time for vaccines, prescriptions, and follow-up needs.

Yellow fever vaccines

Metropolitan Pediatrics and THH Pediatrics do not currently provide Yellow Fever vaccination. The CDC destination tool can help you review country guidance and locate appropriate travel resources.

Coverage and fees

Insurance coverage for travel visits, vaccines, and medications varies. Ask your plan about benefits and call the practice for current service and vaccine pricing.

Trusted Travel Resource

Check destination guidance from the CDC

CDC Travelers’ Health provides current country-by-country vaccine, medicine, and health-notice information. Your pediatrician can help apply that guidance to your child’s needs.
