Shara Feltz

Get to know Shara

Shara Feltz, MSN, CRNP, IBCLC is a certified nurse practitioner, International Board-Certified Lactation Consultant, and Clinical Director of MAPP. She provides pediatric primary care and specialized clinical lactation care at THH Pediatrics.

Shara holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Neuropsychology from Pennsylvania State University, with minors in Natural Science, Biology, and Health Policy & Administration; a Bachelor’s degree in Nursing with an International Health certificate from Georgetown University; and a Master’s degree in Nursing from George Washington University. She is certified as a nurse practitioner through ANCC. In 2013, she co-authored an article on preventing long-term consequences of sports-related concussions in pediatric patients.

Pediatric Primary Care
At THH Pediatrics, Shara provides comprehensive primary care to patients from birth through 22 years of age. Her experience includes hospital, outpatient pediatric, and home healthcare settings, including care of children with complex medical needs. She values building strong relationships with families and providing evidence-based, compassionate care throughout childhood, adolescence, and young adulthood.

Lactation Care
As an IBCLC and nurse practitioner with prescriptive authority, Shara provides specialized, nonjudgmental clinical lactation care for mothers and babies experiencing breastfeeding and feeding challenges. She assesses, diagnoses, and treats complex lactation concerns, including medical and clinical factors affecting breastfeeding. Her experience includes caring for newborns with prematurity, multiple births, cardiac and pulmonary conditions, hyperbilirubinemia, and other complex medical needs. She develops individualized, realistic feeding plans that support each family’s goals, circumstances, and well-being.

Clinical Leadership
As Clinical Director of MAPP, Shara works with the Practice Administrators across both MAPP locations to support and strengthen clinical care. She supports clinical staff, helps develop and improve clinical policies and practices, and addresses clinical concerns to promote safe, consistent, high-quality care.

Life Outside of Work
Shara lives in Germantown with her husband, four children, and two dogs. She spends most of her free time being involved in her children’s many activities and can often be found traveling around Montgomery County for soccer games, swim meets, and other sporting events. She enjoys running, hiking, photography, baking, and staying active with her family.

Shara is a member of NAPNAP’s Breastfeeding Special Interest Group, ILCA, LCAGW, USLCA, Sigma Theta Tau, the Nurse Practitioner Association of Maryland, and AANP. She is also BLS certified.
